Derived relational responding and EIBI

There has some years been talked about implementing Relational Frame Theory and procedures to estabish derived relational responding into Early Intensive Behavioral Interventions (EIBI) for children with autismspectrumdisorders (ASD). And I have heard and I know that several centres and people are duing some really great work in this field. As I supervisor and coordinatior for service providing, I´m of course interested in this work, and we have been doing some modifications to some of our procedures and program.

As far as I know there is very little published in this field, which is sad. But I recognize this; you are too busy in your work with children that you don´t get or feel you can take the time to publish your work. It´s understandable, we all prioritize the task directly realted to the children, witch moving task as publishing further down the list. I would really see more publications in this area (I know there exists some very good ones).

On the rdrrbookeally bright side, there is a book soon to be realeased! :-) Ruth Anne Rehfeldt og Yvonee Barnes-Holmes have written a book called “Derived Relational Responding Applications for Learners with Autism and Developmental Disorders: A Progressive Guide to Change.” And it´s to be published February 2009. I´m really excited to read this book, and I think it´s a wonderfull contribution to the development of Behavior Analysis and effective services to children with autism.
